| Steps for Counting Calories |
- Find out how many calories are in each serving of the food item, most likely by reading the food label
- If no food label then look up the food item on a nutritional website for the appropriate nutritional information.
- If you have multiple servings, and the food label only lists for 1 serving, make sure you multiply accordingly
- Keep track of how many calories you have in each major nutrient
- Carbs, fat, protein, and so forth.
- Multiply each nutrient by the appropriate amount of calories
- Add up all the calories for each food item in every meal.
- You will then have a total amount of calories for the day
