Definition
Estimated Energy Requirement (EER) is the daily requirement for energy. Recommended by the DRI (Dietary Reference Intake)Accounts for age, gender, height, physical activity, and weight.
 
EER Formula
  • Males 19yrs and older
    • EER = [662 - (9.53 x age)] + [PA x (15.91 x weight)] + (539.6 x height)
  • Females 19yrs and older
    • EER = [662 - (6.91 x age)] + [PA x (9.36 x weight)] + (726 x height)
 
How to Calculate EER
  • Choose right equation based on your gender
  • Insert age in years
  • Insert weight in kg
    •  Total lbs/2.2 = kg
  •  Insert height in meters
    •  Total Inches/39.37 = m
  •  Determine what your Physical Activity (PA) factor is by using the following chart
